Ahead of this weekend’s Remembrance across the world, the community of Holme Grange School held our annual Remembrance Service. Not only do we remember the fallen service men and women killed in conflict, but also, focus on the message of hope, and on what those who have fought and survived have to look forward to. In gentle sunshine, the brisk wind stirred the autumn leaves over the grass while the canvas sheeting flapped and metal drums crashed, lending a moving atmosphere to the formal occasion.

The Poppy Appeal

This week, leading up to our Remembrance Service on Friday, the EG pupils are selling poppy memorabilia during breaktimes, in aid of the Royal British Legion. The Legion provides information, advice and guidance to help the Armed Forces community find and access the support they need. This includes members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their families all year round. Our contributions to the Poppy Appeal really do make a difference.

Walks and Cakes for OLN

We are the difference that can make a difference!

Our Lady of Nazareth School in Kenya provides primary school age education to approximately 2500 boys and girls, between the ages of 5-13 years old, living in the Mukuru slums. Primary work is centred on the educational needs in the primary sector, preparing the children for a possible sponsored place in an affordable secondary school. This is where Holme Grange School provides important assistance.

Once again the community of Holme Grange School welcomed Rabbi Zvi of the Jewish Community of Berkshire (JCoB). leading our morning assembly, Rabbi Zvi explained about the joyful holiday of Sukkot, the erecting of the sukkah hut and he told us the story of the magic gourd.

Harvest Fast Day

“We plant the seeds that one day will grow.” – The Romero Prayer

As part of our Harvest thanks today, some staff and pupils (from Year 5 onwards) volunteered to forgo their usual well-fed lunch in favour of soup and bread. The cost of their lunch is being donated to Cafod’s Harvest Fast Day.

The Junior Harvest Services was celebrated by Fr Richard from St Paul’s, for the children in the Prep and Pre-Prep. Harvest donations have been provided by the community of Holme Grange School.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Amid sunshine and showers, the community of Holme Grange School gathered together for a nibble and a natter over delicious cakes and freshly brewed tea and coffee, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
