Harvest Fast Day

“We plant the seeds that one day will grow.” – The Romero Prayer

As part of our Harvest thanks today, some staff and pupils (from Year 5 onwards) volunteered to forgo their usual well-fed lunch in favour of soup and bread. The cost of their lunch is being donated to Cafod’s Harvest Fast Day.

Many farmers around the world live on and depend on their land. The harvest they reap is used to put food on the table, and then whatever is left over, is sold to buy essential items such as clothes and medicine.

Cafod works with with farmers to provide training and reintroduce native seeds that were used generations ago. These seeds are strong and able to grow in suitable climates, ensuring that farmers are able to harvest crops, and with that, the surety that they will be able to provide for their families.

By donating to Cafod’s Harvest appeal we can benefit the planting of seeds for an abundant future.
