Foodbank Christmas Hamper Appeal

by Sam & Amelia, Headboy and Headgirl

dsc00771A visit to the foodbank isn’t exactly a traditional Christmas activity for most families. This Christmas time, the foodbanks will be trying to do a little extra for their customers. Sam and Amelia would like to appeal to the Holme Grange community for small Christmas Hampers.  Some of the produce you probably already have in your homes.

Please place your hamper in the Oak Hall, by Monday 5 December 2016 and then we will deliver them to the foodbank.

Your Christmas hamper might include any of the following items:

  • Selection boxes of biscuits (savoury or sweet)
  • Sugar
  • Fruit juice
  • Tinned items: rice pudding, meat, ham, salmon, fruit, vegetables, tomatoes
  • Long grain rice, Pasta
  • Jam, Marmalade, Honey
  • Milk (long life)
  • Cereal
  • Christmas cake/pudding, Stollen, Mince pies
  • Nuts, Crisps, Nibbles
  • Custard
  • Crackers
  • Children’s sweets

Please make sure that all products are within the ‘sell by’ date.

You can also include:

  • toilet roll
  • toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, deodorant)
  • baby food

Lovely idea, I hope you get lots of donations! Even if it is not a hamper, anything will be hugely appreciated I am sure, even just a tin of rice pudding. It’s sad to think that there are hundreds of families locally who won’t have a great Christmas.
Well done Sam and Amelia, a great cause.

Well done – a fantastic idea and other part of Holme Grange Inspiring Change.
Service to others is a valuable lesson to learn and those in receipt of the hampers will value them so much.

This will make many families Christmas very special.

    Good luck!

Great idea Sam and Amelia – I’m off to Costco tomorrow with my list! It’s so lovely to be thinking of those not as fortunate as yourselves at Christmas. Good luck and I hope this is a great success.
